Thomas Piketty: From Being an Obscure Economist to Becoming the Talk of the World
Keywords:

This research paper aims to introduce one of the most important works in Economics in the 21st century، which is Capital in the Twenty-First Century by French economist Thomas Piketty. Piketty pointed out that income inequality increases even with economic development، as long as rate of the return on capital is higher than the rate of the economic growth، which proved that Kuznets Hypothesis، which had prevailed for more than half a century، was wrong. This paper found that income inequality is a multidimensional issue، and a key determinant of economic، political، and social stability. Piketty’s work is essential to understand income distribution dynamics in 21st century، and to identify policies and mechanisms to solve that problem.
