The Impact of Electronic Banking Services on the Financial Performance of the Commercial Banks in Jordan

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the impact of electronic banking services

competency on Jordanian commercial banks financial performance. A field

survey was applied to reveal the financial performance that can be achieved

as a result of enhancing electronic banking services competency provided to

customers.

In order to achieve the objectives of this study, a questionnaire has

been designed according to the objectives and hypotheses. Questionnaire

was distributed over a sample study that consists of financial managers at

Jordanian commercial banks.

The study concluded a set of results such as: commercial banks

performance is affected by electronic banking service competency,

provided that enough time, effort and volume of daily routine are available.

Consequently, expenditures and employees costs are reduced.

Analysis results revealed that there is no statistically significant

difference between Jordanian commercial banks in terms of electronic service

competency impact on their financial performance.

The study recommends that there is a bad need to overcome barriers

that are still hindering effective application and accurate understanding of

electronic banking services concept. Thus, it is important to illustrate these

services and their advantages because some clients prefer to use traditional

means in withdrawing, depositing, and other services, which may affect

Jordanian commercial banks financial performance.
