Big Six Personality Factors, Positive MoodAbstract
Objectives: This study examined the most prevalent big six personality factors, assessed positive mood levels among Hebron University students, analyzed the predictive ability of personality factors for positive mood, and explored gender-based differences. The sample included 271 students.
Methods: A descriptive-correlational approach was employed. The Six Major Personality Factors Scale (Nawajha, 2022) and a Positive Mood Scale based on theoretical literature and prior studies were utilized
Results: Honesty-humility and extraversion were the most prevalent traits, while openness to experience, conscientiousness, and agreeableness were moderate, and emotionality was medium. The overall positive mood level was high. All personality factors, except honesty-humility, significantly predicted positive mood (α ≤ 0.05). Gender differences were found only in emotionality and conscientiousness, favoring males, with no gender differences in positive mood
Conclusions: Universities should promote self-confidence and independence to help students maintain a positive mood.
