Analysis of Grade Eight Textbooks of the Islamic Education and the National Education in Light of the Basic Islamic Principles Incorporated in Amman Message

This study is a content analysis of grade eight textbooks of The National Education and The Islamic Education in light of the Islamic principles incorporated in Amman Message. The descriptive analytical approach was adopted for this study. The researchers depended on the list of the Islamic principles incorporated in Amman Message. They analyzed the contents of the two textbooks which both consisted of two parts for the first and the second semesters. The sentence unit was used for the two textbooks whereas the verse unit was used for the Islamic textbook.
The researchers came up with the following findings:
-The total frequencies of the principles in the National Education textbook for grade eight were (466). They were distributed according to percentages from high to low as follows: humane Principle was 47.7%, followed by the educational and cultural principle which was 21%, then the political and national principle which were 16.1%. The last was 7.7% for the religious principle and the social principle.
- The total frequencies of the principles in the textbook of the Islamic Education for grade eight was (485). They were distributed according to percentages from high to low as follows: the religion principle was 47%, followed by the humane principle which was 17.7% Then came the educational and cultural principle which was 15.6% followed by the social principle which was 10.9%. The last was the political principle which was 8.8%.
- There were significant differences in the distribution of the Islamic principles of Amman Message cited in the two textbooks of The Islamic Education and The National Education for grade eight, in favor of the textbook of Islamic Education.
