An Analysis of General Culture Textbook Questions for the Second Secondary Grade in Jordan in Light of Bloom's Taxonomy of the Educational Objectives in the Cognitive Domain

Abstract

        The purpose of the study is to determine the cognitive domain levels that measure the General Culture textbook questions for the second secondary grade in two levels in Jordan, and to determine the percentage given to each level.

        The researchers analyzed the General Culture textbook of the second secondary grade, depending on six cognitive levels of Bloom Taxonomy (knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis and evaluation).

        For the purpose of reliability, three specialized members were chosen to scrutinize the questions prepared by the researcher.

        The findings of the investigation reveal that the total of (316) questions out of (471) questions. Besides these questions measure the memorization of knowledge with a percentage of (67%).

        A restricted change is given to the student for comprehension level with a percentage of (32%). It is also found that only two questions with (0.5%) measures the student ability in evaluation. The application, analysis and synthesis levels are neglected. On the basis of results, recommendations are introduced.
