Motives Behind Resorting to Lying among High School Students at Public Schools in Ramallah and El-Bireh

This study aimed to identify the motives resigning to resort to lying among
the students of secondary schools, and the effect of gender, class, father and
mother level of education, and economic status on the use of such motives. The
sample consisted of (1147) high school students, who filled a questionnaire
designed to measure students deceptive motives. Results showed that the
motivation to telling lies among the students was weak, and the most used
deceptive motives were the emotional and self- protection, while the lowest
one was aggression motives. The results also showed an effect for gender,
class, economic status, father and mother level of education of residence
