Abstract

This study aimed to reveal the degree of irrational beliefs and their
relationship to the emotional response among Yarmouk University students
in light of some variables.A sample of (1713) university students (4.84%)
completed the irrational believes questionnaire and the emotional response
scale.The results showed that the degree of irrational beliefs among the
students was medium (3.37) , while the level of emotional response was high
(3.62) .There is a significant difference between the means of the irrational
beliefs and the emotional response and their dimensions due to gender in
favor of females and due to the college in favor of scientific college students.
Finally, the results showed a significant correlation between irrational
beliefs and their dimensions, and between the emotional response and its
dimensions.Based on these findings, the researcher recommends to focus
on a preventive guidance programs that aims to develop the rational and
logical thinking among university students as part of personal upbringing
and mental health programs.
