The Reality of Services Provided to Students with Special Needs in the Palestinian Universities from the Academic and Administrative Staff Members› Point of View

This study aims at identifying the reality of educational services provided
to individuals of special needs at the Palestinian universities according to
faculty member’s perspectives and other variables such as gender, university
and academic qualification.For achieving the study purposes, a questionnaire
consisting of (56) items and six domains of academic, administrative,
social, psychological, used technology and physical facilities domains has
been developed, distributed among of (688) individuals of study sample,
gathered, codified, entered the computer and statistically processed by using
the statistical package of social science (SPSS) .The results showed that the
available domains were ranked as follows: psychological and social domains
first, second academic and administrative domains and finally physical
facilities and used technology.Results showed that there are no statistical
significant differences at (= 0.05) about the reality of educational services
according to the faculty member’s perspectives due to the variables of
gender, academic qualification and university.The researcher recommended
the necessity of establishing service centers for individuals of special needs
at the universities in addition to involving them in all activities, committees
and students’ councils.
