Future Thinking Skills among Gifted and Non-Gifted Students - A Comparative Study.

Abstract

This study aimed at investigating the level of the future thinking skills among a sample of gifted and non-gifted students. The sample consisted of 70 students at the 10th grade who were intentionally selected and divided into two groups. The first group consisted of 35 gifted students at King Abdullah II school for Excellence, which is affiliated to the Directorate of Education in Ajloun. The second group consisted of (35) non-gifted students at Ajloun Secondary School. The study was conducted during the academic year 2015/2016.  The Researcher used the descriptive research method for the purposes of the study, in addition to a scale as an instrument for the study, to measure the skills of future thinking. The study showed that the level of future thinking skills among gifted students was high, while the level of future thinking skills among non-gifted students was moderate. Moreover, the results revealed that there were statistically significant differences in the levels of future thinking skills among gifted and non-gifted students, in favor of the gifted students.
