Parenting Rearing Styles and its Relationship with Perfectionism among the Students of Yarmouk University

This study aimed at discovering the relationship
between parenting rearing style and perfectionism
among students of Yarmouk University. To achieve
the purpose of this study, the data were collected
by using Buri’s scale of parenting style (1991)
(Democratic, Authoritarian, Permissive) and the
scale of perfectionism for Slany et al (2001) . The
sample consisted of (659) students, males and
females during the second semester of the academic
year 2014/ 2015. The descriptive- analytical and
correlative approach has been used. The researchers
have utilized SPSS program in order to analyze the
data. The study showed that the parenting rearing
style which is more common than the other styles is the
democratic style. Furthermore, the results revealed
that there is a medium level of perfectionism among
the students. Finally, the study noted that there is
a positive relationship between parenting rearing
styles (Democratic, Authoritarian, Permissive)
and Perfectionism among the students at Yarmouk
University.
