Efficacy of Rational- Emotive Behavior Therapy on the Reduction of Internet Addiction & Improving General Self- Efficacy in Students at Sultan Qaboos University.

This study aimed at developing groupcounseling
program based on rational– emotive
behavior therapy, and investigating the effectiveness
of this program in reducing internet addiction &
improving general self- efficacy among a sample of
internet addicted male students in Sultan Qaboos
University.
The sample of the study consisted of (24 male)
students. It was randomly divided into two groups:
experimental groups & control group, each consisted
of (12) students. Participants in the treatment group
attended the group- counseling program (REBT) ,
whereas participants in the control group received
no treatment.
The results of (ANCOVA) showed significant
differences in internet addiction scale & general
self- efficacy scale in favor of the experimental
group compared to the control group (a= 0.05) .
These differences were also maintained through the
follow up test.
