School Bullying and Its Relation to Self - Efficacy among Ninth and Tenth Grade Students in Jordan Public Schools

Abstract

The present study aimed to identify the level of school bullying and academic self - efficacy among ninth and tenth grade students and to reveal the predictive ability of self - efficacy in school bullying. The sample of the study consisted of 460 students (236 males and 224 females) in Jordan public schools. In order to achieve the goal of the study, the researchers used a school bullying scale designed by al - Subheen and al - Qodhah (2013) , and self - efficacy scale designed by Muris (2002) after modifying these scales. The findings of the study have revealed that the level of both school bullying and self - efficacy were medium. Also, the findings have shown that the academic self - efficacy, social self - efficacy and emotional self - efficacy contributed all together to explain 52.1% of school bullying. Furthermore, the findings have shown that the academic self - efficacy was in the first rank in explaining school bullying.
