Abstract

This study was conducted to explore the impact of using sensory activities program on improving a number of mathematical thinking skills among chidlern in kindergartens in Amman. The sample consisted of 60 random Children from kindergartens in the city of Amman. The sample was divided into two groups, 30 Children in the experimental group and 30 in the control group. The study utilized different tools such as, a list of mathematical thinking skills, an educational program based on sensory activities, and a test to examine a number of mathematical skills. The findings showed that there was a statistically significant difference (a≤0.05) in the average scores of both groups in mathematical thinking skills due to the teaching method, in favor of the group that was subjected to the educational program. The study also showed that there was no statistical significant difference (a≤0.05) in the skills of deductive reasoning, modeling, and guessing due to the variable of gender. However, there was a statistical difference in the skill of induction due to the variable of gender in favor of females. The study recommends utilizing the sensory activities to improve mathematical thinking skills.
