Abstract

The current study aimed at identifying the level of ambition among a sample of women who were divorced before marriage consummation and its relation to the level of optimism among them. In order to achieve the objectives of the study, a sample of divorced women who did not consummate the marriage was selected from Ramallah and al - Bireh governorate, Palestine. The sample included 87 divorced women. Two measures were used in the study, the measure of ambition and the measure of optimism. Their psychometric properties were verified. The results of the study indicated an average level of ambition and optimism among divorced women, and a positive correlation between ambition and optimism. Based on the results of the study, a number of recommendations were made, including enhancing the levels of ambition and optimism among divorced women through extension programs.
