The Effect of Using Caricatures on Improving Critical and Argumentative Writing Skills Among Female Eighth Basic Grade Students

The present study aimed at investigating the effect of using caricatures on improving critical and argumentative writing skills among female eighth basic grade students in Jordan. The study adopted a quasi-experimental research design as two groups were selected and assigned randomly; one as experimental and one as control. The sample of the study was selected conveniently. The number of the participants in both groups was 64 participants, distributed into two groups. The first consisted of 32 students representing the experimental group, taught by using caricatures. The second group consisted of 32 students representing the control group, taught by the conventional method. In order to achieve the aim of the study, the two groups were administrated a pre-post critical and argumentative writing test. The results of the study revealed a statistically significant differences between the two groups in the total and sub- skills of critical and argumentative writing using caricatures, in favor of the experimental group taught using caricatures.
