Faculty Members’ Possession of Competencies in Measurement and Evaluation in Saudi Universities Preparing University Exams and Interpreting their Results

Objectives: The current study aimes to identify the extent of faculty members' possession of measurement and evaluation competencies in Saudi universities preparing university exams and interpreting their results. Depending on some variables such as academic rank, college, and gender.
Methods: To achieve the objectives of the study, a tool was built that consisted of 33 test items. The study tool was applied to a sample of 252 faculty members which included 150 males, and 102 females.
Results: The results showes that the faculty members' proficiency in assessment and evaluation preparing and interpreting university test results was moderate. Additionally, the results indicates statistically significant differences regarding the possession of assessment and evaluation competencies preparing and interpreting university test results based on academic rank, the type of college variable, and the gender variable, whether on the study tool as a whole or on its domains.
Conclusions: The study diagnoses the reality of measurement and evaluation competencies for faculty members in Saudi universities. The study recommended the necessity of holding training workshops for university teachers to raise their teaching and evaluation competencies and developing legislation that regulates this.
