Abstract

Objectives: The current study aims to reveal the effectiveness of a cognitive-behavioral therapeutic program based on trauma treatment in reducing maladaptive behavior associated with prolonged grief among children who lost a father aged 6-12 years.

Methodology: The researcher uses the quasi-experimental method based on the design of the experimental group and the control group.

Results: First: There was statistically significant differences between the experimental and control groups in the post-measurement of maladaptive behavior after controlling the effect of the pre-measurement. Second: The results of the pre-measurement, post-measurement, and follow-up measurement two weeks after the maladaptive behavior scale indicated that there was statistically significant differences between the average of the pre-measurement and the post-measurement and follow-up measurements, and these differences were in favor of the pre-measurement. The results also indicates that there were no statistically significant differences between the post-measurement and follow-up measurements, despite the low level of maladaptive behavior in the follow-up measurement.

Conclusions: Repeat the study with different age groups, longer follow-up periods, and repeat similar future studies on larger samples so that the credibility of the scientific results can be proven.
