Objective: The study aimed at revealing the development of the content of science textbooks in its all branches, under the establishment of Transjordan until 1940AD.
Methods: by surveying and inventorying all forms of scientific knowledge and the mechanisms for presenting them in the content of science textbooks. The study sample consisted of all science books in their all branches, which were accessed from the School Book Museum. To achieve the objectives of the study, the time periods were divided into two stages, the first one is before establishing Trans Jordan, and the second one in the period from 1921 AD to 1940 AD.
Results: The findings showed that science textbooks during the period from 1921 AD to 1940 AD focused on presenting scientific knowledge in the form of largely scientific facts and concepts and some life skills and applications. The books focused on presenting facts in the field of biology at a rate of 71.4%, in the field of chemistry 16.0%, and 12.6% in the field of physics. Regarding scientific concepts, their percentages from scientific knowledge forms were 58.0%, 38.0%, and 27.0% in biology, chemistry, and physics, respectively.
Conclusions: In light of the findings, a set of recommendations were presented, namely conducting future studies that investigate the content of science school books on many scientific and national issues.
