Objectives: The study aims to identify self-concept and its relation with aggressive behavior among adolescent students in the Northern Educational District.
Methodology: The study sample consists of 193 male and female students in the secondary stage, selected by random sampling method, and the study used the descriptive analytical approach.
Results: The results show that sample members agreed with the self-concept items. The average of the self-concept is 2.57, with a relative weight of 89.4, came with a large reported degree, and the sample members did not agree on the aggressive behavior scale. The average for aggressive behavior is 1.34, with a relative weight of 44.55%, and this means that there is a small degree of agreement. There are no significant differences between the averages of self-concept due to: gender and town, while differences are found in favor of those who live with their father and mother. There are differences between the averages of aggressive behavior in favor of males, and also in favor of those who do not live with their father or mother. The results indicate an inverse correlation between self-concept and aggressive behavior. The Pearson correlation coefficient reaches 0.470; which means that an increase in aggressive behavior is matched by a decrease in adolescents' self-concept.
Conclusion: The study recommended developing guidance programs for parents about positive/model parenting and its role in raising children who value themselves positively and reject aggression, and paying attention to providing a healthy family environment with the presence of the father and mother alongside their children to raise children with a positive self-concept, which contributes to keeping them away from aggressive behavior, and examining the concept of the self and its relationship to behavior. aggression in future studies depending on additional variables.
