Research Skills Level and its Relationship to the Use of Digital Search Engines Among Students of Psychological and Educational Counseling in the Graduate Program at al-Quds Open University

Abstract

Objective: The study aimed to assess the level of research skills and their relationship with the use of digital search engines among students of psychological and educational counseling in the graduate studies program at al-Quds Open University. It also aimed to identify the nature of differences in each of them based on variables such as age, academic year, and cumulative GPA.

Methodology: To achieve this, a descriptive correlational method was employed by administering the study's scales to a sample of 50 male and female students majoring in psychological and educational counseling at al-Quds Open University during the academic year 2023/2024.

Results: The results of the study indicated that the level of research skills among students majoring in psychological and educational counseling at al-Quds Open University was high, with a percentage of 91%. Regarding the use of digital search engines, the field of ethics of publication rights came in at a high level with a relative weight of 73%, while the accuracy of digital search engine results was the least common area with a relative weight of 64%.

Conclusion: The current study recommended the necessity of mastering research skills and awareness of digital research tools and sources among graduate students.
