Abstract

Objectives: The study examined the effectiveness of a cognitive behavioral supervisory program in enhancing counseling skills among counselors at shelter centers under the Ministry of Social Development.

Methodology: A quasi-experimental design was employed with a sample of 30 counselors scoring low on the counseling skills scale. Participants were randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. The experimental group attended 12 weekly sessions, each lasting 90 minutes.

Result: Findings revealed statistically significant differences favoring the experimental group in the post-test counseling skills scale. Within the experimental group, post-test scores significantly surpassed pre-test scores, while no significant differences were observed between post-test and follow-up scores, confirming the program’s effectiveness and sustainability over eight weeks.

Conclusion: The study recommends Palestinian universities establish specialized undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs in counseling supervision to prepare professionals in this field.
