This study aims to identify the difficulties facing the secondary- school
teachers of Arabic language in the Directorate of Education in North Gaza
Governorate from the teachers› point of view. In addition, the study seeks to
determine the impact of sex, qualification and years of experience. To achieve
the objectives of the study, the researchers developed a questionnaire, as a
research tool, consisting of (37) items based on Lickert›s scale. The items are
categorized into four fields: difficulties related to the curriculum of school,
the student, teachers themselves and school management including and
supervision. The sample of the study consists of (85) male and female teachers
distributed in (19) Schools. The main results of the study is that regardless of the
differences in the social type, qualification, and years of experience, all Arabic
language teachers face many difficulties and all of them acknowledged the
presence of those difficulties. There were no significant statistical differences
concerning their estimation of the importance of those difficulties. It is
concluded that the most important difficulty is related to the teachers themselves.
The study came up with different recommendations: (1) the officials should
take those difficulties in consideration and find effective solutions for those
difficulties. (2) There is a bad need to provide better conditions for teachers
by raising their competencies, orientation and providing material and moral
incentives for them. (3) Linking the content of the Arabic curriculum with
the students› reality and needs to touch the value of what they are learning
in their practical career. (4) Developing and improving the content of the
Arabic curriculum. (5) Improving and increasing the effectiveness of the
educational supervision
