Evaluation of Presenting Motor Activities to Children in Kindergartens in Riyadh

The study aimed to identify the reality of teaching motor activities
provided to children in kindergartens in the city of Riyadh, and the role of
motor activities in the development of the child in this stage.Besides, the study
aimed to identify the status of the performance of teachers of motor activities
provided to children.The study used the descriptive analytical method
which relies on studying the situation or phenomenon as it is and describe
it precisely.The sample consisted of (110 teacher) of kindergarten teachers
public and private kindergartens, and a scale (prepared by the researcher)
was used to assess the situation of motor activities provided to children in
the light of Early Childhood Educational goals and objectives.The results
showed:
1. That the status of applying motor activities offered to children at this stage
represented (1.71%) of the whole sample group.This shows an opinion
agreement amongst the sample group about the position of applying
motor skills activities which are offered to the kindergarten child.
2. That the role of motor activities in the development of children in
kindergartens in the city of Riyadh represent (83.5%) .This shows an
opinion agreement amongst the sample group regarding the role of motor
skills activities in the development of kindergarten children.
3. The role of kindergarten teacher in providing motor activities for children
at this stage represented (84.5%) This shows an opinion agreement
amongst the sample group about the role of kindergarten teacher in
presenting motor skills activities to the children.
The study recommended:
♦♦ Enriching the child’s environment at the kindergarten with the appropriate
equipments and tools for motor activities; in order to create stimulus and
then rapid response during motor skill learning (according to Pavlov’s
classical conditioning learning theory) (Omda: 2012) - • Self- learning
kindergarten curriculum must include a kinesthetic program which
should contain free games and organized ones with goal setting, besides
the types of motor activities appropriate for the child and methods for
providing these activities.It should also include methods of measuring the
growth of motor skills and ways of assessing child’s kinetic ability which
commensurate with the characteristics of kindergarten child’s growth
and the objectives of this phase.- • The kindergarten teacher should pay
attention to children with special needs while playing kinetic play- There
is a need to pay attention to the courses of child kinetic education in the
curricula of colleges of early childhood education major in the universities
