The Role of Al-Quds Open University in Enhancing the Popular Heritage and National Identity in Palestine

This Study aims to investigate the role of Al-Quds Open University in enhancing the popular heritage and national identity in Palestine. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher used the theoretical and qualitative analysis and semi- structured interview to collect the necessary data from a purposive sample comprising (30) students at Salfeet branch.
By analyzing the collected data qualitatively including mediations and (t) test and using theoretical analysis for four courses textbooks at Al-Quds Open University to find out whether they include heritage elements and enhance national identity and Palestinian popular heritage, the study reveals:
1- The content of these courses participated positively in enhancing the national identity and popular heritage in Palestine.
2- There is a great role of Al-Quds Open University in enhancing Palestinian popular heritage with average 72.18%.
3- There is a great role of Al-Quds Open University in enhancing Palestinian identity with average 73.27%.
4-There are significant statistical differences in students' responds towards the role of Al-Quds Open University in enhancing Palestinian popular heritage at statistical level (α≤0.05) due to the variable of sex for female favor.
5-There are significant statistical differences in students' responds towards the role of Al-Quds Open University in enhancing the Palestinian identity at statistical level (α≤0.05) due to the variable of sex for male favor. In light of the study results, the researcher stated some recommendations as follows:
- Establishing a refereed journal which will focus on dissemination of scientific researches related to the Palestinian popular heritage.
- Establishing a heritage institution which deals with the Arabic popular heritage.
- Carrying out annual forum of popular culture and held alternately in the Arab countries.Downloads
