Infographics Design for the Illustration of a Number of Poetic Terms: A Practical Application

Abstract

   This study soughtto design information graphics (info-graphics) to illustrate some of the prosody terms such as, vocal passages, stanza, poetic meter, al-Zahafatand al-Olal. The researcher used the descriptive applied approach. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher created16 designs. Each of them included a number of icons, which included suitable texts, images, colors, and symbols for their design, andused the hammer, thetilted and roundnails for their representation. Each icon can serve as a visual, linguistic, and semanticillustration of each of the before mentioned terms, in addition to demonstrating their aestheticsignificance and deriving their symbolism through visual reading.

The most important results of the study were: 1. Info-graphics help visualize prosody terms and contribute to the delivery of their aesthetic and artistic significance. 2. Visualreading helps comprehendprosody and facilitates its teaching, due to its important role in deriving the concepts embeddedin the info-graphics. The researcher relied on info-graphics to highlight the visual and symbolic significance of the terms.

The studyrecommends the following:1. The need for creating a visual dictionary that includes the literary terminology. 2. The need forcreating info-graphicsdesigns for literary and scientific terms to create avisual definitionfor them, in addition to their linguistic and semantic definition. 3. The need for carrying out studies on the role of visual reading in understanding the literary and scientific terms.
