The Scientific Research Impediments Facing the Fulltime Academic Supervisors at Al-Quds Open University

The purpose of this study was to assess at the Scientific Research
Impediments facing the full time academic supervisors in Al-Quds Open
University in the second semester (2003\2004). This study also investigated
the effects of the variables of gender, qualification, specialization and number
of published studies. The researchers developed a questionnaire that included
(40) items to measure the scientific research impediments. Study population
consisted of (282) full time academic supervisors. The sample consisted of
(79) supervisors selected by a stratified cluster sample. The results of this
study indicated the most difficulties appeared in the University facilities,
financial difficulties and difficulties that related to teaching process, the results
of this study also revealed that there were statistically significant differences
due to academic qualifications and it was in favor of PhD holders. This study
recommend getting enough updated references in the university libraries and
supporting the scientific research financially, and giving enhance to the
supervisors sabbatical year equally to other local uiversities
