Al Quds Open University introduced e- learning in the first semester
of the academic year 2008/2009. This study aimed at identifying the main
problems and obstacles facing students registered for blended e- learning
courses in addition to identifying their trends towards e- learning specifically
video streaming in order to advise decision makers at Al Quds Open University
on how to improve the experience and overcome the obstacles that might face
students in the future.
In order to achieve these aims, the researchers used descriptive methods
by distributing a questionnaire to collect the required data to a classified
sample of students. The size of the sample was 7% of the population reaching
total of 515 male and female students.
To The findings the study indicated that 65% of students expressed
positive attitudes towards the technique of video streaming. There are also
44% of students who supported the extension of e- learning experience to
more courses and educational regions.
The most crucial problems were due to the students themselves and not
to the university. The main obstacle was due to the fact that many students do
not own computers and internet connections. Another problem is that students
were not given orientation sessions before starting their e courses. The main
problem due to the university was the lack of lab technicians’ support at the
university
