Abstract

This research sheds the light on the significance of the title’s intertextuality in Murid Barghouti's Poetry. The title is considered the main determiner of the text identity, indications and connotations.  The study addresses how title intertexuality in Murid's poetry contributed to the creation of the text’s aesthetics through using religious and literary texts, prose, non-literary texts (mythological, historical, and philosophical), and the art of painting.
The study also examined  how Murid was able to create an integrated literary image that perfectly combines between the text and intertextuality. This is considered an attempt by the poet to evoke psychological connotations and other mental images in the mind of the recipient throughout the text. The poet used intertextuality to create  text’s aesthetics that convey to the reader different poetic images in the title and the poem. They also reflect the state of mind of the poet and his surroundings
