Abstract

This research handles the Popular Services Committees of the West Bank

Refugee Camps their establishment, functions and tasks between 1996 and

2004. This subject has been presented within six main points.

The first point handled the first roots of those Committees at the West

Bank Refugee Camps. The second point handled their establishment and

the conditions accompanying this. The third point handled their activities

during the period from 1996-2000 before Al-Aqsa Intifada (uprising). The

fourth point handled their activities during the period from 2000-2004 after

Al-Aqsa Intifada. The fifth point handled their system and tasks. The sixth

point handled their relations with the United Nations Relief and Work Agency

(UNRWA), and their relations with the refugees residing in refugee camps.

A number of conclusions and recommendations were presented at the

end of this research. In addition, a list of the names, area and population of

those camps and a map showing their locations were annexed to this research.
