A Suggested Educational Model for Public Schools Directors to Promote Democratic Culture Among Students in Jordan

Abstract

Objective: The study aims to suggest an educational model for public school’s directors to promote democratic culture among students in Jordan.

Method: To achieve the objectives of the study, the descriptive- analytical approach is used besides the Statistical Package Program (SPSS). A questionnaire as a tool for conducting the study was developed. The study data collected after reviewing the theoretical literature and previous studies then confirmed the validity and reliability. The study sample consists of 283 principals selected by using the stratified cluster method from the population of the study.

Result: The results showed that the degree of application of public school principals to their role in promoting the after democratic culture (democratic knowledge and trends) students in Jordan from their point of view was high, where the results showed th at the field of knowledge and democratic trends ranked first with a high degree, while the fields of democratic practices ranked last, with a medium degree.

Conclusions: the results showed that the study presented an educational model to promote democratic culture among students in Jordan. This model covers three dimensions, democratic Knowledge and trends, Democratic values, and Democratic practices. The study recommended a set of recommendations, including inviting the Jordanian Ministry of Education to adopt the suggested educational model and develop the plans for its implementation. and spread the democratic culture through actual practices in the school, by principals to achieve intellectual communication in the school community.
