Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and its Relationship to Psychological Well-being Among a Sample of Widows Whose Homes were Destroyed in the City of Jerusalem

Objectives: The study aimed to identify the relationship between post-traumatic stress disorder and psychological well-being among a sample of widowed women whose homes were destroyed, and to identify the level of post-traumatic stress disorder and the level of psychological well-being.
Methods: The study used the descriptive approach, and the study sample consisted of an available sample of 147 from widowed women who attend women's institutions in the Jerusalem Governorate. They answered the psychological well-being scale and the post-traumatic stress disorder scale.
Results: There is a high level of post-traumatic stress disorder and a low level of psychological well-being. There is a negative correlation between trauma disorder and psychological well-being. The dimensions of post-traumatic stress disorder included avoiding traumatic experience, recovering traumatic experience which can predict psychological well-being. There are no differences. The total score for traumatic stress disorder and psychological well-being is attributed to the number of years of widowhood.
Conclusions: The study concluded that there is a previous correlation between depressive disorder and psychological trauma. Post-traumatic stress contributes to prognosis and psychological well-being, and the findings of the current study indicate that there are psychological causes that deserve help.
