The Effectiveness of Counseling Program based on the Humanistic Theory in Reducing the Psychological Stress among Wives of Detainees in the Israeli Prisons

This study aimed at building and implementing a counseling program based on the humanistic theory of reducing psychological stress among the wives of detainees in the Israeli occupation prisons, and measure its effectiveness.
The study sample was selected and consisted of intentional (18) detainees wives who constituted the control group, and (12) detainees wives who constituted the experimental group on which the counseling program was applied.
For achieving the study objectives, two tools were used: the first tool is the psychological stress questionnaire, and the second tool is a counseling program, which is based on the humanistic theory.
The results have revealed that there are statistically significant differences regarding the degree of effectiveness of the counseling program in reducing the psychological stress among the wives of detainees in the Israeli occupation prisons. The results have also indicated that there are no statistically significant differences with respect to the degree of the effectiveness of the counseling program in reducing the psychological stress among the wives of detainees in the Israeli occupation prisons to be attributed to the variable of the number of the husband’s detention years. However, it appeared that there are differences in the dimension in favor of the greatest number of detention years.
Moreover, there are no statistically significant differences in the degree of the effectiveness of the counseling program in reducing the psychological stress among the wives of detainees in the Israeli occupation prisons, these can be attributed to the interaction between the different types of groups, and the number of husband’s detention years. As well as the dimensions expect for the dimension of psychological stress, and the differences were in favor of the greater number of detention years in the experimental group.
According to the results, the study has recommended that it is necessary to use the counseling program that we highlighted in this study, in order to reduce the psychological stress that the wives of detainees in the Israeli prisons suffer fromDownloads
