The childern are enrolled in special education centers in Amman. To achieve the objective of the study, the researchers developed the receptive language scale and the expressive language scale for children with autism spectrum disorder and children with intellectual disabilities. The validity and reliability of the two scales were achieved. The study used the survey descriptive approach to address the study’s questions. The data was analyzed by using means, standard deviations, correlation coefficients, t-test and multiple variance analysis (MANOVA). Results indicated that there were statistical significant differences at the level ( .05 ≥ α) among children with autism spectrum disorder and their peers with intellectual disabilities in all dimensions of the receptive language scale and the expressive language scale. The differences were in favor of children with autism spectrum disorder. The study recommends providing language services according to the type and severity of the disability.
