Abstract

This study aimed at identifying the level of career commitment of

psychological and social specialists in mental health centers, and investigating

the effect of some variables on the degree of their commitment.Also, the study

aimed at ranking the variables according to importance.Finally, the study

aimed at identifying obstacles facing career commitment of the psychological

and social specialists.The sample consisted of (90) psychological and social

specialists chosen deliberately from the population consisting of (106)

specialists with (0.899%) .The participants responded to a questionnaire of

(37) items, distributed into three dimensions: content of work, working with

of team spirit, and career ethics.

The results analyzed by using (SPSS) revealed that career commitment

for psychological and social specialists in health centers got high degree

(4.11) .No significant differences due to gender and job location were found.

But significant differences were found due to (salary and job location) and

(gender, salary, and job location) in favor of males with low salaries.Females'

career commitment increases alternatively with their salary rates.

The study also revealed that the most important obstacles facing

psychological and social specialists are: Bureaucracy, routine, lack of job

rewards, and negative view of the psychological and social specialists from

society.The researcher recommended some changes related to work policy

like promotions and improvement in job conditions.
