The Effectiveness of Parent Training Program (ImPACT) in Developing the Communication Skills of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder in the State of Qatar

The purpose of this study is to measure the effectiveness of the Parents Training Program (ImPACT) in improving the communication skills of children with autism spectrum disorder in the State of Qatar. The quasi-experimental approach (one group with pre- and post-measurement) was used, the Social Communication Checklist-SCC and the ImPACT training program which was translated by the researcher and prepared by Brooke Ingersoll and Anna Dvortcsak were used as well.
The study sample consisted of two groups, included eight children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder by the Rua’a Assessment Center or Rumailah Hospital, they were chosen by intention according to a measure of their communication skills, and on their parents. The results indicated that there was a statistically significant difference between the average ranks in the pre and post applications for the performance of the experimental group on the total score of the communication skills scale and also for the sub-dimensions of the scale because of the training program, The difference was in favor of the post applications with (4.50) than the average ranks for the tribal application of (0.00), exception of the imitation dimension it was no statistically significant differences.
