Evaluation of the Performance of the Principals of Secondary Schools in Ramallah and Al- Bireh Governorates in Accordance with the Modern Trends of School Administration

This study aimed at evaluating the performance of the principals of
secondary schools in Ramallah and Al- Bireh Governorate in the light of the
modern trends of school administration. The population of the study included
all teachers of secondary schools in Ramallah and Al- Bireh Governorate in
the year 2008/ 2009. It included (2795) teachers. A cluster random sample
was chosen from among them comprising (386) teachers. The researchers
designed a questionnaire consisting of (47) items. Its validity and reliability
have been determined through appropriate statistical and educational
techniques.
The study revealed that the performance of the principals in Ramallah
and Al- Bireh Governorate in the light of the modern trends of school
administration has been at the high degree, with mean of (3. 93) according
to (Likert Fifth Scale) . The study did not show any statistical differences in
the means related to gender, years of experience or teachers’ qualifications.
There were statistical differences according to the administrative side in
favor of the government. In the light of the results the study recommended a
set of recommendations.
