The Religious and Architectural Virtues of Holy Jerusalem
Keywords:
Virtues, Holy JerusalemAbstract
Moslems dignified Jerusalem for many reasons. Among these are
religious and architectural aspects. They also fought to liberate it and wrate
books and articles about it.
The interest in the virtues of Jerusalem was in proportions according
to each era and its needs, for example, the Umayydds had an interest in the
virtues of Jerusalem more than the Abassids because of many reasons; For
example: strengthening the Umayyad authority and drawing the attention of
Moslems to a building which has dignity as important as that of the Christian
buildings and churches so that things will be well for the Umayyads in Bilad
Al-sham and particularly in Jerusalem.
Allah dignified Al-Aqsa mosque and blessed its surroundings and sent to
it good people and messengers. Allah made Al-Aqsa Mosque the best mosque
on earth after Mecca’s mosque and (Nabawi) mosque. The Quranic verses
and the prophet’s hadiths referred to that big grace and high position.
