Jerusalem, Literary Curriculum, Palestinian schools.Abstract
This research tackles the picture of Jerusalem in the literary curriculum
in the Palestinian schools as Jerusalem has a unique status for its Muslim and
Christian holy sites .Over history, Jerusalem has been a target for invaders
and conquerors.
In my research I focused on showing the names, importance and
artistic picture of Jerusalem on one hand. On the other hand, I tried to show
the religious, historical and geographic importance of Jerusalem.
This research has adopted the statistical and descriptive approach
in finding out and sorting the names and the artistic picture and the context
of Jerusalem depending on poetic and prose texts in the Palestinian literary
curriculum.
The research gave a number of conclusions: that Jerusalem has many
names following the successive nations and civilizations that ruled it. Most
of these names were Arabic ones except the name Ealia Capotilia which was
Roman.
