Abstract

The main aim of this study is to derive a new poverty line in Jordan; To

achieve this objective, the study used (X Square) to test the first hypothesis

besides using descriptive and analytical approach to test the second and the

third hypotheses.

There are significant variances between the three development regions

and Jordan as a whole regarding per-capita yearly consumption; a new

poverty line for Jordan is 645JD per year.

To bridge the gap among rich and poor people a practical mechanism was

developed: a new poverty assessment to determine poverty line, computerised

database, using a national number as a primary key, to determine income for

every citizen to take rational decision to subsidise the poor people.
