Analysis of the Scores of 6th Grade Students in the National Test of General Science in light of some Variables

This study discussed the achievement of the sixth primary grade students
in the national general science test in accordance with some variables.
related to the student, teacher and the school. The population of the study
consisted of all the sixth primary grade male and female students in the
directorates of education in the district of Hebron. These are students who sat
for national test in science in the academic year 2007 / 2008 and their number
amounted to (14736) students. A stratified cluster sample of (3171) students
was selected and divided into (94) sections. Their results of the national test
were obtained from schools’ records. The data related to the ratings of the
teachers was obtained from the directorates of education. The results of the
study revealed statistical significance differences between the means of the
achievement of the sixth primary grade students in the national science test
according to the variables of the students’ gender , school gender ,class size ,
the directorate and teacher gender, qualifications, specialization and of years
of experience.
It was also clear that there was no significant statistical relationship
between the sixth grade students’ achievement means and their teachers’
ratings by school principals and supervisors.
