The Impact of Globalization on the Arabic Language

Abstract

This research tries to reveal the mask from the linguistic cultural

globalization faces. It hopes to achieve this main purpose by creating a strong

relationship emphasizing the intimate relation between the language and the

national identity. Then it starts by clarifying the globalization definitions

according to different political and ideological schools. It stands also on

the junctions of the internalional linguistic struggles. It also investigates the

status of both languages (English and Arabic) between the sey and the other.

Finally, the research shows the effect of globalization on the Arabic language

in three directions. The first is in teaching English language to children, the

second in using English as a medium of instruction in the universities and the

third in the role of mass media especially the satellite channels
