Reality of Entrepreneurship at Small-Scale and Medium-scale Enterprises and Its Enhancement Tools in Palestine

Over the recent years, the concept of business entrepreneurship has
attracted considerable attention from researchers and policy makers
worldwide. This attention was driven by the fact of the increasing role
of entrepreneurship in the development local economies, especially in
encountering unemployment and alleviating poverty.
Thus, the purpose of this study is to assess the status of entrepreneurship
in the sector of small and medium enterprises in the Palestinian economy,
and to identify the main obstacles it is encountering. It also proposes
concrete recommendations that would help over these obstacles and advance
entrepreneurial activities in Palestine.
The methodology employed in this study centered on gathering and
analyzing statistics published mainly by the Palestinian Monetary Authority
and the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics as well as by other research
organizations. The study also reviewed and synthesized all prior studies on
small and medium enterprises in Palestine which comprise around 95% of all
business enterprises.
The study reported a number of key findings, and concluded with
a set of recommendations that would enhance the prospects of business
entrepreneurship in small and medium enterprises in Palestine.
