Abstract

This paper examines the role of Jordanian banks in enhancing and

developing E- Commerce. Besides, it deals with the availability of E- banking

operations requirements in Jordanian banks to play their intended role in

enhancing and developing E- commerce. On top of these are legal legislation,

means of security and protection, modern technology, qualified human

resources, public awareness and culture among Jordanian banks Clients, in

addition to partnership and integration in electronic banking operations.

The sample of the study covers 18 Jordanian banks, three of which

refused to be included. A questionnaire the study was distributed among

bank managers and their representatives who have long experience in the

operations of E- banking.

The researcher has come up with numerous results. The most significant

ones run as follows. First: the items: Jordanian banks play an important role

in enhancing and developing E- Commerce had the percentage of 72%. Legal

legislation, means of security and protection, technology, and qualified human

resources to enhance and develop electronic commerce, had percentages of

76%, 83%, 84%, 87%, respectively. Next came the item that there is no public

awareness and culture among Jordanian bank clients. Furthermore, the

absence of partnership and integration for E- banking operations to enhance

and develop of E- commerce were reported with a percentage of 50%, 45%,

respectively.

At the end of the study, the researcher gave many recommendations in

order to enhance and develop E- commerce.
