Psychosocial and Administrative Motives behind the Use of Modern Communication Media among Palestinian Youth

This study sought to find out the most important psychosocial motives
behind the Palestinian youths’ use of modern mass- media namely mobiles,
dish, and internet, in light of the variables: gender, specialization, and family
income. For this purpose, a questionnaire was administered to measure the
motives in those three domains on stratified selected a sample which consisted
of (348) male and female students, who were currently randomly at Al- Quds
Open University, Tulkarm Educational Area. Results showed that the effect
of motives ranged from very strong on administration domain and strong on
social and psychological domains and the total. Also the results revealed that
there were significant differences in the level of the effects of those motives
in the use of modern mass- media by the youth due to income in favor of high
income. However results revealed that there were no significant differences
in the level of effects behind use of media due to gender, specialization, and
the total.
