Parental Abuse towards Children in light of Gender and Age among a Sample of Students at Primary Educational Levels in Amman

The study aimed at detecting degree of parental abuse towards the child
and it’s relation to gender and age.
The sample was formed from (120), male and female children.
They were selected from the primary schools in Marj Al- Hamam and
Wadi Al- Sir .
The child abuse scale was developed after looking at literature theories
in the field and the scales that were used in measuring abuse. The validity and
reliability of the scale were ensured. T- Test and means were used.
The findings showed that:
1. The total degree of the abuse was moderate
2. There were statistically significant differences in the degree of the physical
and emotional and total abuse due to gender in favor of females.
3. There were statistically significant differences in the degree of the physical
and total abuse due to child age in favor of (10- 11) years of age.
