Abstract

The present paper intends to demonstrate the current risk that threatens the status of the Arabic language among some of the Algerian university students who are struggling to partially eradicate these endemic phenomena amid the users of Arabic at the tertiary level. This study aims at diagnosing this phenomenon and showing the impact caused by the faulty usages in the daily communication of students. To achieve this aim, this study seeks to answer the following questions:

What are the causes and factors of the linguistic pollution and the colloquial speech?

What impacts do the linguistic pollution and the colloquialism have on the Arabic language and the Arabic identity?

To come up with answers to the posed questions, we follow the phenomenon and diagnose this widespread defect according to what the study requires in order to manage certain mechanisms to minimize the spread of linguistic pollution in the conversational communication among students
