The study aims to identify the effectiveness of a training program designed for the teachers of prevocational education course in enhancing their performance at the basic educational level at the public schools of Lattakia Governorate in the light of the national professional standards. The study sample consists of all the teachers of the prevocational education course with total number of (15) teachers, who were selected intentionally during the second semester of the academic year 2014-2015. To achieve the goal of the study, the researcher designed a training program to train teachers of prevocational education course on teaching prevocational educational activities in the light of the National professional standards, in addition to achievement test consisted of 38 items of multiple choice questions, and note card that included (14) main parameters and (82) indicators that can be observed in the performance of prevocational education course teachers. Moreover, these tools were validated and verified. For data analysis section, the researcher used the following Tests like statistical processing, standard deviations, and Wilcoxon Test. The study results shows the effectiveness of the proposed program. The study suggests including the prevocational education teachers preparation programs before and during the service to the list of the National Professional Standards which are suggested by the researcher, due to their positive impact on improving the teachers’ professional performance.
