The Working Palestinian Woman and Her Role in Making Family Decisions

This study sought to identify the Palestinian working woman’s role in making family decisions. The study was applied on a sample of female teachers in the schools of the Directorate of Education in northern Gaza Strip. The study was based on the analytical descriptive approach. The sample consisted of 217 married and previously-married female teachers. A questionnaire was implemented to collect data. The researcher found that the working woman in this field succeeded in making financial decisions at 75.72%. She had the ability to participate in making decision related to the education of her children at 77.40%. Moreover, she was able to make a decision related to solving the problems of her children at 81.51%. At the same time, she was capable of making a decision on allowing the children to marry at an early age at 69.49%. The researcher strongly recommends the need for women to be aware of their rights by promoting and supporting their role economically and socially, to manage work and their ability to make family decisions in the Palestinian community.
