Coffee in Poetry in the Tenth Century Hijri (16th Century A.D.)

This study deals with a new topic among the poetry subjects that appeared
in the tenth century (Hijri) (16th century A.D.) which is Coffee. The study
encompasses the topic in three dimensions: In the first I deal with the different
kinks of coffee, its sources and discoverer. In the second one I discuss the
arguments that have arisen about forbidding or allowing it showing the
benefits and harms and the role of poetry in propating these. In the third
part I deal with the praises and flirtation of coffee and the urges of the poets
to drink it by the instruments used for that and what is mixed in it as well s
the acquaintances with coffee shops and the clientele which caused the spread
of drinking coffee between people in that age, and so it became a custom to
the ordinary people and the elite. However, some were addicts.
poetry played and important role in spreading coffee in society as a purified
and blessed drink with many benefits.
