The book under analytical revision discusses the results of a comparative
study conducted by Professor Sara Guri- Rosenblit to determine the tensions
and interactions between distance teaching and campus universities in each
of five countries, namely: The United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, Canada
and Israel. It also discusses the developments which happened to each of
five distance teaching universities which were established in the early 1970's
during the two decades following its establishment. The book points out the
differences and similarities among these universities concerning
administration, academic systems, financing, and affiliation in light of the
national setting of each one of them. The universities under discussion are:
The Open University in the UK, the Spanish Universidad Nacional de
Educacion a Distancia, the Fern Universitat in Germany, Athabasca
University in Canada and the Open University of Israel.
